Relational Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
I’m Erin McMahon - a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist working with adolescents and adults in-person in Lakewood (and online throughout Colorado).
I am grateful to have long-term therapeutic relationships with people in which they can truly come to flourish. I practice relational depth therapy informed by modern psychoanalytic and client-centered thought. My work is deeply relational, guided by the belief that people are both hurt and healed in relationship, and that the therapeutic alliance can lead to profound transformation. I am also trained in somatic trauma treatments such as EMDR and IFS-informed modalities.
Specializations:
-Queer, trans, and gender-expansive folks
-Gifted, high-achieving, and burned-out individuals
-Those with relationship and attachment difficulties - challenges with family of origin, friendships, and romance
-People in long-term recovery from substance misuse, eating disorders, and/or codependency
-Late-in-life diagnosed AudHD and neurodivergence
-Grief and loss - including sudden loss and anticipatory grief
-Social justice activists
-Spirituality, experiencers, and the transcendental
I find that this work helps people to:
-Get to know themselves deeply
-Have healthier, more fulfilling interpersonal relationships
-Feel sure about themselves and their decisions
-Process and integrate difficult experiences from the past
-Hold their personal story with more peace and compassion
-Experience lasting change, over time
-Ultimately find more contentment, ease, and joy
“We are born in relationship, we are wounded in relationship, and we can be healed in relationship.”
